Kyle David – Hope Counseling Center

Kyle David, Executive Director at Hope Counseling Center

Background and Early Career:

• Began my healthcare career in 2019 at the ripe age of 24, just six months before the COVID-19 pandemic.

• COVID-19 presented significant challenges that accelerated my growth in leadership and crisis management to what felt like years.

• Successfully led my team and providers through these uncertain times, including launching an autism clinic in the Branson area, earning a promotion to Director of Operations at Mercy, one of the Midwest’s largest health systems.

Faith Community Health and Transition to Hope Counseling Center:

• In 2022, I became the Executive Director of Faith Community Health, a nonprofit in my hometown focused on caring for the underserved in body, mind, and spirit.

• Over the course of two years, we noticed a growing need for mental health services and the massive gap of services needed. Compared to the narrowing gap of primary care that the organization had once tackled, due to a changing landscape where individuals have many more resources than every before. This led to an organizational shift to the launch of Hope Counseling Center expected in the fall of 2024.

• Hope Counseling Center aims to address the critical mental health needs in Southwest Missouri, providing therapy services.

Partnership with Demar Consulting Group (DCG):

• In 2023, we transitioned our financial management to DCG.

• DCG’s expertise and strategic guidance have been pivotal in supporting our major transitions including transitioning to Hope Counseling Center.

• Their team, with Tasha and Donna, has provided invaluable assistance in financial decision-making, ensuring stability and growth during the restructuring of our organization.

• DCG’s commitment to understanding our unique needs and their hands-on approach has been a significant asset to both myself and our board, with them by our side every step of the way.

Team and Leadership:

• I am supported by an incredible team, including:

Anne McGregor, our Chair, has been vital in guiding us through critical decisions, and stepping up wherever she is needed, including being interim executive director before hiring me.

Tracey Field, our Director of Development, has played a major role in maintaining relationships and executing our communication strategy.

Reuben Smith, our first counselor, who has been with us every step of the way from the early days of the providing mental health services to the transition of Hope Counseling Center.

My wife, Esther David, who allows me to pursue wild ideas, pour time in our community, and supports me in every way possible. She is by my side, and has never been afraid to get her hands dirty when it comes to supporting the organization at events or whatever she can do.

Personal Reflections:

• The pandemic was a pivotal period for my leadership development, teaching me how to push through tough times and the importance of compassion towards my team, providers, and patients.

• Leading Hope Counseling Center is both an honor and a privilege, as I witness the positive impact our therapists have on our clients’ lives.

• Mental health has been something I feel like God has put on my heart because it’s become an obsession in finding ways to provide this service for those experiencing this nationwide crisis. That is what makes this feel like a calling in my leadership journey, as I have personal experiences for where the passion of this area has come from, but it makes me excited everyday to gain knowledge in this important area and touch as many lives as possible. I am exactly where I need to be, and Hope Counseling Center will be a place that transforms lives.

Future Outlook:

• Committed to expanding our services and reaching more people in need. We are in deep discovery mode for children services, as mental healthcare for children is preventative healthcare in action. To be able to provide children’s, adult, and higher level acuity counseling with psych therapy, are all items for which Hope Counseling Center will tackle over the next few years.

• I’m grateful for the opportunity to lead such an incredible team and make a difference in our community, and I can’t wait to look back and see where this organization has gone in the years ahead.
